HCBAV Pastors Page

Energize Ministries and Hometown Foundation will hold a Hometown Men’s Fellowship at their Energize Amphitheater the evening of May 15. That event is open to ALL men and teen boys, and is free of charge. This event will have 3 speakers from NASCAR, Michael McDowell (winner of the 2021 Daytona 500 – car #71), Mike Dillon (son-in-law to and driver for Richard Childress), and Guilford. One of the stated goals of this event will be to connect men to the local churches. Toward that end, they want to invite pastors from throughout the community to attend so that they can introduce you, let you say a few words about your church, and allow you to interact with the men in attendance. Energize Ministries and Hometown Foundation will hold a Pastor’s Lunch at Chatmoss Country Club on April 15. All pastors from around the community are invited. You can sign up for the lunch by going to April 15, 2025 on the HCBAV.org Events Calendar and clicking on the poster. Please make this lunch a priority and start letting the men – especially men with teenage boys – know about the May 15 Men’s Fellowship.

Next time you need to fill your pulpit, Rocky is looking for opportunities to share a 20-minute message, Our Call to Christian Service and HCBAV’s Mission, looking at how HCBAV is positioning to help our churches meet our Biblical community outreach ministry needs. Please contact him to schedule this soon.

Hurricane Helene Deployment Update

As of April 2, we have 15 volunteers for our mission trip into the Hurricane Helene impact area during our local public school Spring Break. We just found out the the second team that was supposed to be in Damascus that week has been shifted to a new deployment site in Buchanan County to help victims of the Valentines Weekend floods. So, we will be the ONLY team for BGAC in Damascus that week. So, they are giving us a bit more time to come up with 5 MORE volunteers. Let’s continue to press this mission trip as both a help to our neighbors and an opportunity to mentor our youth in the mission-mindedness that Jesus taught us in His teachings, none more profoundly than in His parable of the Good Samaritan! Two of the 15 already signed up are teens coming with their father and grandfather! The kitchen coordinator has called a meeting of anyone wanting to help with meals and kitchen prep for 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 4 at First Baptist Church of Collinsville. Rocky will be there to talk with them – and to any other volunteers who want to come.

In a recent meeting Andy Barnes, BGAV’s Field Strategist for our region, shared two programs that BGAV is promoting, specifically for rural churches. They are: Dinner Church Encounter and Ascent. You can use these for your individual churches or let Rocky know if you would like to see us run either or both from the associational level.

Please contact those whose names you have put up for the Pulpit Supply page to consider to send a Speaker’s Bio to be added to their listing.

Please check your listing on the HCBAV Churches page. If you want social media connections added, help us know how to properly direct people to you.

Please encourage your church members to go to the Get Involved page and Calendar of Events to see more about the Damascus Rebuild Deployment, and get sign-up sheets to Rocky ASAP. Sharon and Rocky are committed to keeping our Calendar of Events up-to-date. We can’t let people know about anything we don’t know about. Please keep us informed.

We have updated the Prayer Requests for both Pastor Lundy and Pastor Rigney – both situations are improving; PRAISE GOD. Please contact Rocky with prayer requests AND updates along the way.

If your church has an eNewsletter, and you have not already done so, please put Sharon and Rocky on the distribution list so we can stay informed on what’s going on in your church.

Please look at the Get Involved page and encourage your church members to engage with our efforts.
